Drain Basins

Nyloplast® Drain Basins are used as a collection point typically where two or more drain lines converge. Basins can provide a transition between different sizes and types of pipe, and can also change the elevation or direction of the pipe. Drain Basins are also beneficial when faced with shallow pipe burial applications.

Nyloplast Drain Basins can be installed in an H-20 compliant manner using the procedures outlined in the Installation Details found under the Drain Basin Resources.

When are Drain Basins Used?

Made to your Specifications
All Nyloplast Drain Basins are made to your specifications, which includes:

  1. The diameter of the drain basin
  2. The style of the grate or cover
  3. The number of inlets/outlets
  4. The diameter of the inlet/outlet pipe
  5. The invert height of each inlet/outlet pipe
  6. The direction of each inlet/outlet
  7. The type of inlet/outlet pipe
  8. Inserts & accessories: Snout™, Weir, FLEXSTORM™, etc.

Field Adjustments
Since it is very common for the actual elevation of the job-site to deviate from the plan used to make a drain basin takeoff, Nyloplast Drain Basins are designed for easy adjustment in the field. In the event the elevation is less than expected, the drain basin can be cut to size. If the elevation is greater than anticipated, we offer riser sectors of up to 6' in 1' increments, which can be used to extend the height of a drain basin.

Inlet/Outlet Adapters
To make sure your custom drain basin fits the pipe you are using, it is shipped with a gasketed system that results in a leak proof joint when correctly installed. Nyloplast has adapters available for most of the underground plastic piping systems currently available In the North American market, including ADS N-12, SDR 35 Sewer, Schedule 40 DWV, Corrugated PVC and Ribbed PVC.
