FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Hilliard, Ohio – October 3, 2008:  The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has expanded its 100-year service life approval of N-12® corrugated HDPE pipe to include 54” (1350mm) and 60” (1500mm) diameters. Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of HDPE corrugated pipe, became the first HDPE manufacturer to receive 100-year service life approval in July when FDOT approved 18” (450mm) through 48” (1200mm) N-12 pipe diameters for “Class II” 100-year service life specifications.

“We have put our N-12 dual wall pipe under intensive testing to prove it will last a lifetime. Now that those tests are complete, we’re happy to announce that our product has passed with flying colors,” said Joe Chlapaty, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of ADS. “Our goal as a company is to provide our customers with high quality, value enhanced solutions to meet any underground drainage need and this announcement gives us the ability to expand the applications of N-12 pipe, and advance the industry as we know it today.”

ADS serves its customers throughout the state of Florida through the company’s local manufacturing facilities located in Sebring and Winter Garden, as well as its local distribution centers in Ft. Lauderdale, Ft. Myers and Jacksonville.

FDOT utilized the most rigorous and comprehensive test protocols in the pipe industry to determine the expected service life for ADS N-12 HDPE products up to and including 60” (1500mm). Incorporating projected long-term buried stress and environmental conditions, the test protocol utilizes the Rate Process Method (RPM) and Oxidation Induction Time (OIT) testing to measure stress crack resistance and product durability.  These methods are well established and widely used in the pressure pipe industry as a means to predict the long-term performance of thermoplastic pipe.

Introduced in 1987, N-12 smooth interior dual wall pipe meets strict quality control from raw materials to production - conforming to ASTM and AASHTO standards - and is specified nationwide in storm and sanitary sewers, agricultural drainage, road and highway construction, residential and commercial development as well as turf and recreational applications.
